With fall comes the flu, sore throats, fever and worst of all, tummy troubles!
As parents, we know that flu symptoms are messy (and smelly)!
Here are a few of our favorite tips for tackling the flu and preventing evidence that it ever lived at your house:
Tip 1: If you suspect the stomach flu is about to hit, leave a bucket near your kiddo’s bed.
Try this: Line the bottom of the bucket or bowl (and the ground around it!) with plastic grocery bags to contain the mess. Don’t have a bucket you want to donate to the cause? Use a potty-training chair instead!
Tip 2: If the flu comes hand-in-hand with the sniffles, keep an empty tissue box next to the full one for your sick little one to throw their used ones into. This stops the trail of used tissues around the house.
Tip 3: Keep middle of the night flu clean-up to a minimum by layering your child’s bed with a mattress pad or two. That way, if there’s a mess you can simply strip off the top layer of bedding and get them back to sleep quickly.
Did someone miss the barf bucket? Don’t panic. Remove as much of the mess as you can and then cover it with baking soda. This will help remove excess moisture and make it clump, which makes it easier to clean. Once the vomit is removed, reach for an enzyme-based product like KIDS ‘N’ PETS Instant All-Purpose Stain & Odor Remover to completely eliminate residual stain and smell.
Tip 4: Opt for dye-free acetaminophen and ibuprofen. That way you won’t be dealing with removing dye in vomit stains.
KIDS ‘N’ PETS is supporting PEPS this year with a sponsorship because our cleaner was developed locally by a dad in Seattle. We also support pet rescue and adoption. Parents and pet owners are our customers and we want to show our support to organizations that support them too.
